Mr. Than Singh

Head Constable, Delhi Police — and a teacher by heart. What started as a simple act of kindness under a tree has grown into Pathshala Foundation, touching the lives of hundreds of children.

From Struggle to Service

Mr. Than Singh, a dedicated head constable of Delhi Police, grew up in a humble family in the slums of Delhi. Life was difficult, and education was a luxury. As a child, he ironed clothes to help his father and support the family.

His father’s dream was simple — to see his son become a police officer. Than Singh attempted the exam twice and failed. But he refused to give up. On his third attempt, he succeeded and joined Delhi Police.

Despite the stability that came with his uniform, Mr. Than Singh never forgot the struggles of his early years. He understood that education was the one bridge that could change the direction of a child’s life — just as persistence had changed his own.

While patrolling streets and managing demanding shifts, he noticed children sitting idly near parking areas, construction sites, and busy roads — eager to learn but with no access to structured education. Many of them reminded him of himself: capable, curious, and quietly hopeful.

What began as informal teaching sessions soon became a routine. Books were shared, lessons were planned, and trust slowly grew. Children returned every day — not just to learn, but because they felt seen, heard, and valued.

This growing circle of learning marked the foundation of what would later become Than Singh ki Pathshala — a place built not by resources, but by belief, consistency, and compassion.

How Pathshala Began

Every time he met underprivileged children while on duty, he saw a reflection of his younger self — curious minds held back by circumstances. He decided to step in. And that’s where Pathshala was born.

“Pathshala is more than a classroom. It’s a place where dreams finally feel possible.”

Even after long shifts and demanding work hours, he would teach children in his free time. Slowly, word spread. More children joined. Volunteers came forward. And eventually, the world noticed.

A Message That Reached Many

Newspapers, news channels, NGOs, and thousands of kind-hearted citizens amplified the work. But through it all, he stayed grounded. For him, the smiles of children were worth more than any award.

Today, Pathshala Foundation stands as a symbol of hope — built on determination, compassion, and a belief that every child deserves a chance.
